Formerly known as “Nepa Qmart,” this large covered establishment in the heart of Quezon City in the Philippines serves as a central market where ranchers and farmers transport their livestock and harvests, fishermen deliver their catch and tradesmen from all walks of life haul their merchandise before dawn multiple times per week for sale to retailers. Huddled in rented stands that span the entire length of the sprawling landscape, retailers in turn hawk their wares to the general public in a seemingly chaotic environment that would befuddle the keenest of observers. To the locals however, there was order to the seeming madness. They knew where they needed to go to get what they wanted. And while there were numerous vendors of hard merchandise and dry goods, what made Mega Qmart special was its wet market.
