The Mosque of Al-Rifa’i, located in the heart of Cairo, is an architectural masterpiece completed in 1912. Commissioned by Khushyar Hanim, the mother of Khedive Isma’il Pasha, the mosque was intended to be a royal mausoleum. Over the years, it has become the final resting place for various members of Egypt’s royal family and other significant figures, including Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the last Shah of Iran, who died in exile in 1980.
